Style 1 Media On December 7th, fashion designer Donna Karan (left) hosted a book signing brunch for her new book, Stephan Weiss: Connecting The Dots (Assouline), at the exclusive Delano Beach Club in Miami's South Beach. The book is a moving personal tribute to Karan's late husband, his art, and his legacy. Stephan Weiss, a sculptor and painter who worked alongside his wife in the fashion business, died of lung cancer in 2001 at the age of at 62. Coinciding with the book release is an exhibition with the same name at New York's Urban Zen Foundation, on view through December 23rd. This marks the first time Stephan Weiss's work has been exhibited as a comprehensive collection.

"This exhibit and book is my way of introducing you to Stephan's work and passions," says Ms. Karan. "Stephan’s creative explorations began with random dots which led to finished works of every scale in media as diverse as Lucite, acrylic string, ink, oil, stone and bronze, as well as our iconic fragrance bottles."

The brunch event was well attended on the steamy Miami afternoon during Art Basel Miami Beach. Guests lined up at the table to purchase books while Ms. Karan gave interviews and chatted with invitees. Champagne, gourmet breakfast dishes, and specialty cocktails by premium white rum sponsor, Caliche Rum, took the edge off the heat as the sun descended in the sky.
