Sensational Umbria through the Lens of Photographer Steve McCurryItalian Trade Commission, 33 East 67th Street, NY, NY | 11.07.2013 | by Merry Esparza
Sensational Umbria, a spectacular photo exhibit by renowned National Geographic
and Magnum photographer, Steve McCurry, opened on November 7th at
New York's Italian Trade Commission. The exhibit features vibrant large format prints
selected from a body of 100 photos commissioned by the Italian Region of Umbria.
McCurry's images capture Umbria's landscapes, art and architecture, industry and products, food and wine,
tourist attractions, and the lives of inhabitants. Italian Trade Commissioner, Pier Paolo Celeste
introduced the show, along with Consul General of Italy in New York, Natalia Quintavalle,
and President of Umbria, Catiuscia Marini.

On October 19th, the Jazz Foundation of America (JFA) held
its 22nd annual Jazz Loft Party at New York's Jack Studios.
The annual benefit, sponsored by Parmigiani Fleurier in partnership with the
Montreux Jazz Festival, featured spectacular performances by more than 75
jazz, blues, and gospel musicians including Shuggie Otis (left),
Blackbyrd McKnight, Bettye LaVette, James Carter, Kenny Barron, Sharón Clark, Manu Lanvin, Ladell McLin,
Charnett Moffett, Julio Botti, Marco Lo Russo, and Davell Crawford.
Event hosts included Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers;
JFA Chairman, Dick Parsons; JFA President, Jarrett Lilien;
JFA Executive Director, Wendy Oxenhorn; Montreux Jazz Festival Director,
Mathieu Jaton; and Parmigiani Fleurier CEO, Jean-Marc Jacot.

On July 16th, food lovers and culinary enthusiasts flocked to Manhattan's Madison Square Park for
Celebrate Flatiron Chefs!, the Madison Square Park Conservancy's annual summer
outdoor feast that helps fund the park's maintenance, horticulture initiatives, and free cultural programs. Supported by
Conde Nast Traveler, Delta Air Lines, Los Cabos Tourism Board,
MasterCard Priceless New York, Mexico Tourism Board, and Seagram's Ginger Ale,
the highly anticipated event featured tastings from more than 30 top restaurants and food purveyors located in the
Flatiron District and vicinity.
During a sizzling evening with temperatures topping the 90s, guests (including Chelsea Clinton) sampled
signature dishes and chatted with some of the most respected chefs in the culinary field.

On June 12th, members of the media headed to the New York Marriott Marquis for the
Editor Showcase Snack Attack, an annual brand-to-press networking event at which snack brands
exhibit their latest and most innovative products. Produced by experiential marketing and event production agency,
Fast Forward Events, the 2013 Snack Attack featured 35 to 40 brands showcasing a variety
of delectables, from sweet to salty, from crunchy to creamy, and from nutritious to decadent.

The International Center of Photography (ICP) welcomed supporters to its 29th Annual Infinity Awards
on May 1st at Manhattan's Chelsea Piers. The Infinity Awards were inaugurated in 1985 to bring public attention to outstanding
achievements in photography by both seasoned professionals with distinguished careers and emerging luminaries. The Awards are ICP’s
primary fund-raising event, supporting the full range of its programs, including exhibitions, education, collections, and community outreach.
This year's event drew a mixture of collectors, philanthropists, photographers, artists, writers, media, and other professionals. The program included a
special presentation to Academy Award-winning actor and photographer, Jeff Bridges (shown left).

On April 11th, the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health (AAIUH) celebrated its 19th Anniversary
at the Annual SportsBall Gala held at New York's Chelsea Piers. New York 1 News Anchor Cheryl Wills
co-hosted the spectacular event with Mary Carillo, Sports Analyst for CBS, HBO Sports, NBC, and the Tennis Channel.
The "black tie & sneakers" event brings together sports celebrities, medical professionals, academic leaders, public figures, and
others who support the legacy of tennis champion and humanitarian, Arthur Ashe, who founded the Institute
prior to his death in 1993. The gala, which raises funds for critical health empowerment programs in urban minority communities,
honors significant contributions by individuals who further its mission.
